Rig 2 is our oldest ambulance of the fleet. It has a 2003 Ford F-450 Super Duty Chassis and a 7.3L V8 diesel engine with 215 HP and 425 lb-ft of torque. Unlike all the other ambulances it has, it does not come with 4X4 drive and instead older snow chains are used for poor road and weather conditions. Like Rig 4, though, it has survived all the same major storms such as Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, and the October 2011 Snowstorm.
As of now, Rig 2 us primarily used for standbys and ceremonies in addition to being a third due ambulance for us. That means if we have three calls going out at once, this ambulance is taken last of all three. It might not be everyone’s first choice, but it runs just as well as all our others. Come and check it out at the Memorial Day Parade every year if you are interested!
