Rig 4 is our middle ambulance. It was purchased by the Warren Township Rescue Squad and is a 2008 Ford. Similar to Rig 3, it is also on a Ford F-450 Super Duty XLT Chassis. It has a 6.4L V8 diesel engine with 325 HP, 600 lb-Ft of torque, and 4X4 drive.
The rear patient compartment was manufactured by Horton Emergency Vehicles. Currently, it has the standard mechanical stretcher in the back for lifting patients. Coming soon in Fall 2017, is a new electronic powered stretcher, or power cot. To learn more about that or to help donated to offset the cost of it, please go here.
While Rig 4 isn’t our newest ambulance, it certainly isn’t old at all and still handles and operates exceptionally well. Up to the February of this year when the new Rig 3 went into service, this was the primary inclimate weather ambulance, and it excelled at it.
It has survived major storms including Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene, and the October Snowstorm of 2011 and we’re expecting it’ll be around for many more to come.
