Rig 3 is the newest addition to our fleet. It was an incredibly magnanimous gift from Warren Township. The main ambulance and patient segments were manufactured by PL Custom Emergency Vehicles in Manasquan, NJ. It is built on a 2016 Ford F-450 Superduty XLT Chassis. It has a 6.7L V8 diesel engine with 300 HP, 660 Lb-Ft of torque, and 4X4 drive. It has the latest in suspension technology (liquid spring), dual tires in the rear, and is the largest in its class.
What’s new about the ambulance for us is its electronically powered stretcher, or power cot, and its rumbler siren. Learn more about the power cot and what it can do, here. In the back, it is spacious and comfortable; plenty of room for everyone to stand and work without bumping into each other, or their heads.
It entered service in February of 2017 and since then, everyone has been looking to use it and see it.
While it is manufactured by Ford, it’s the Cadillac of ambulances. Stop by in the evenings or at standby events around town if you would ever like to see a tour. It still has that new ambulance smell, so hurry on down!
